Mustachio
RedFalcon AI came to us with recognition technology and no application. My job was to find it a home. I owned the research, ideation, form development, CAD, and full-scale mock-up.
RedFalcon supplied the AI; the drive base is a Fetch Robotics Freight 100.
The tech could recognize faces, read demographics, and identify products without barcodes. The question was where that mattered most. Whole Foods under OTS was the answer: a system demanding precise counts and constant floor awareness from people already stretched thin. Mustachio takes on the tracking so the staff can do the rest. Not a replacement, an assistant, and one that customers would actually want to approach.

Over forty concepts, working through proportion, stance, and where the face and screen belonged. Everything from kiosk-like towers to rounded, appliance-adjacent forms, narrowing toward something that could carry a screen at shopper height without reading as a vending machine or a moving billboard. A friendly face was a necessity, not decoration. A customer assistance robot in a grocery aisle is useless if nobody goes near it.
