I was born in Palembang, Indonesia. I grew up in Singapore, and later life took me to Seattle and then San Francisco. Design followed me the whole way through, or maybe I followed it.

I was the kind of kid who couldn't leave things alone. Toys, pens, anything with moving parts, I’d take them apart just to see how they worked. I got in trouble for it more than once. It never stopped me.

Almost a decade into my career, that same instinct has only grown with me.

I have better tools now, and I care more about getting things right the first time, about building things that stand the test of time, and about what happens to them long after they leave my hands.

For every broken thing, there’s a design opportunity hiding in plain sight. That’s the whole job, really.
